Vienna police obtained warrants for eluding and hit-and-run against a 20-year-old Herndon man accused of fleeing a traffic stop and crashing into another car on Oct. 16.
Officer Poggioli attempted to stop a vehicle in the 200 block of Lawyers Road NW at 7:50 a.m., according to the Vienna Police Department's weekly highlights report. The driver did not stop and fled into Fairfax County.
Two minutes later, at 7:52 a.m., the fleeing vehicle struck a car that was stopped in traffic at Lawyers Road NW and Windover Avenue NW, the report stated. The vehicle's left front corner hit the stopped car's right rear corner. The collision caused minor damage, and no injuries were reported.
The striking vehicle left the scene.
Fairfax County police later contacted the driver, whom Vienna police described as a 20-year-old unlicensed male from Herndon, as Patch reported. The driver admitted to the collision, according to the police report.
Vienna police obtained warrants for eluding and hit-and-run. The department did not identify the driver by name. Neither the highlights report nor the Patch account indicated whether the warrants had been served as of publication. The Vienna police report attributed the driver contact to Fairfax County police, but no separate FCPD account of the incident appears in public records.
The incident was listed under case number 2026-011823 in the department's Oct. 23 highlights report, which covers incidents from Oct. 16 through Oct. 22.
