A woman using a mobility device was struck and killed by a pickup truck at a Hybla Valley intersection on Thursday, marking the sixth fatal pedestrian crash investigated by Fairfax County police since late May.
The crash occurred at approximately 7:45 p.m. at the intersection of Richmond Highway and Dart Drive, according to the Fairfax County Police Department's Public Affairs Bureau. The driver of a 2026 Ford F-250 was turning right from Dart Drive onto northbound Richmond Highway when the truck struck the woman in a mobility wheelchair as she crossed Dart Drive from north to south.
She was taken to a local hospital in life-threatening condition and later pronounced dead. Her identity has not yet been released.
The driver was not injured and remained at the scene. Alcohol and speed do not appear to be factors, the department said.
