The Vienna Police Department's annual Cops & Kids Fun Run sold out all 300 registration spots within days of opening.

A waitlist is available for families still looking to register. The department announced on X on Monday, Sept. 14, that registration was live for the Halloween-themed event, with spots limited to the first 300 children. Each registered child receives a goodie bag and a race-day T-shirt. By Wednesday, Sept. 16, the event website showed registration closed and a waitlist open.

The quick sellout mirrors last year's event, when all 300 pre-registration spots filled in under four hours.

The 2026 Cops & Kids Halloween Run is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 18, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event is free and open to all children, even those who did not register. Activities include a one-mile walk/run, an obstacle course, face painting, music and dancing, a slide, food and drinks, and police cruiser tours. Every child who attends receives a medal.

The fun run, organized by the Vienna Police Department and local sponsors, dates back to the early 1990s. It was discontinued for more than a decade before Police Chief Morris assembled a team to revive it in 2016, according to the event website.

This year's sponsors include Mission BBQ, Ace Hardware, Vienna Inn, the Vienna Rotary Club, Green Hedges School and several local businesses.
