The Vienna Choral Society opens its 2026-27 concert season Oct. 18 at 5 p.m. at Fairfax United Methodist Church.
The concert, titled "The Shared Table: The Sounds of Comm-UNITY," centers on food and music as shared languages across cultures. It will feature "Taste of Freedom," a new composition by Sydney Guillaume. The evening's tagline, "Weaving Voices, Sharing Flavors, Singing Peace," frames the program around connection and belonging, according to the VCS website.
Tickets are available through Zeffy. The Zeffy listing also includes a ticket category for senior living residents.
Artistic Director Mike Horanski leads the Vienna-based nonprofit chorus. Horanski has taught in Fairfax County Public Schools since 2005 and directs choral ensembles at Robinson Secondary School. He also serves as Director of Music Ministries at Fairfax United Methodist Church, the same venue hosting the Oct. 18 performance. The church is at 10300 Stratford Ave. in Fairfax.
The concert falls during artoberVA, ArtsFairfax's month-long celebration of local arts running through Oct. 31. The Vienna Choral Society is listed as a cultural partner in the initiative, which BroadwayWorld reported includes more than 60 deals and free events from 40 artists and arts organizations across Fairfax County.
"artoberVA is our invitation to Fairfax residents to invest in their local economy by supporting local artists," ArtsFairfax President and CEO Stuart Holt said in September when the initiative was announced.
The group also received an FY2027 operating support grant from ArtsFairfax, part of $601,900 distributed to 65 local arts groups countywide, as FFXnow reported in August. The Jason Howell Company, a local wealth management firm, is the season sponsor.
The Oct. 18 concert is the first of four performances planned for the season. The remaining schedule:
- Sounds of the Season: Dec. 12 and 13, 2026
- Mosaic for Earth: March 14, 2027
- Echoes of Icons: May 16, 2027
Tickets and details are available at the Vienna Choral Society website or by calling 571-533-8338.
