Oakton's football team beat Colonial Forge 32-23 on Friday, Sept. 18, claiming the program's first 4-0 start since 2021.
The Cougars, playing at home, knocked off a Colonial Forge squad that had allowed just 14.75 points per game entering the contest, according to MaxPreps. The Eagles had beaten Oakton 42-14 a year ago. Colonial Forge fell to 3-1 with the loss.
Senior Deylen Jones, a Harvard commit, scored multiple touchdowns to lead the comeback. The teams were tied 10-10 at halftime and 17-17 in the third quarter before Jones broke the game open, the Fairfax Times reported.
"We've been on the wrong end of so many games like this," Jones told the Fairfax Times after the game. "And tonight, we were on the right end of it because we prepared and we worked hard and we stuck together."
When the final whistle blew, players doused head coach Said Aziz while his assistants sprinted up and down the sideline. Aziz leads a program that has cycled through three coaching staffs in three seasons.
Through four games, Oakton has outscored opponents 178-58. The Cougars opened with a 49-7 win at Edison on Aug. 28, blanked Justice 49-0 on Sept. 3, beat Woodson 48-28 on Sept. 10 and then topped Colonial Forge.
Oakton is off this week before traveling to Langley on Friday, Oct. 2, at 7 p.m. The Cougars open Concorde District play at home against South Lakes on Friday, Oct. 9.
