Fairfax County police are seeking the public's help after a man was found beaten and in life-threatening condition in the Idylwood area on Saturday, July 5.
Officers from the McLean Police Station responded to the 3000 block of Graham Road around 11:30 a.m. after receiving a report of a suspicious event, the Fairfax County Police Department said. When they arrived, they found an adult man with injuries across his body.
The victim was taken to a hospital in life-threatening condition. He remained hospitalized as of Tuesday, according to police.
What detectives have found
Detectives determined the man was hurt during an assault near the intersection of Route 29 and Graham Road. The FCPD classified the case as a malicious wounding, a felony under Virginia law involving the intentional infliction of serious bodily harm.
When asked whether a weapon was involved, an FCPD spokesperson told FFXnow the question "is still under investigation at this time."
Police have not released a suspect description, a motive, or the victim's identity. No arrests have been announced.
10-day gap before public appeal
The FCPD's Major Crimes Bureau assigned victim specialists from its Victim Services Division to assist the man. Detectives from the McLean station are handling the case.
The department waited 10 days before issuing a public appeal for information on Wednesday, July 15. Police have not explained the delay.
