Dolly Parton fans near Vienna have several free events to choose from Friday, Sept. 25, as communities nationwide honor the country music legend on the first Dolly Day.

The biggest nearby celebration, "A Whole Lotta Dolly Parton, One Unforgettable Night," runs from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Reston Metro Plaza, 1900 Reston Metro Plz. The free outdoor concert features impersonator Karen as Dolly performing a live tribute set, plus drinks, a pop-up bar, a photo booth and a Dolly Parton look-alike contest during intermission. The show is part of Reston Station's Summerbration concert series, according to The Local Girl Fairfax, and families are welcome.

Attendees should check Reston Community Center's social media or website before heading out in case of weather changes.

Why Sept. 25

Parton died Aug. 25 at age 80 after a brief battle with cancer. The date 9/25 nods to her iconic hit "9 to 5," and cities, counties and at least two states have declared Friday as Dolly Parton Day in her memory, USA Today reported.
