Fairfax County Public Schools is hiring cafeteria workers and van drivers, including at Vienna-area schools like Madison High, Oakton High and Thoreau Middle.

The district will hold a walk-in Food and Nutrition Services job fair on Thursday, Sept. 24, from 9 a.m. to noon at 6840 Industrial Rd. in Springfield. No registration is required, and candidates can interview on-site.

FCPS is hiring for two roles. Food Services Workers start at $17.72 per hour as substitutes and earn $19.61 per hour upon selection for a permanent position. Food Services Van Drivers start at $20.08 per hour. Both positions come with 190- or 195-day contracts that follow the school calendar.

According to the FCPS job listing, both positions include paid training, paid school holidays, health and life insurance, paid sick leave and a retirement plan. Part-time workers receive full-time benefits.

Candidates must have access to transportation, pass a background check, be eligible to work in the United States and have a negative tuberculosis test within the past 12 months. Applicants should bring two completed HR-125 professional reference forms.
