Performers ages 10 to 18 will sing, dance, and roll the dice when Vienna Youth Players opens "Guys and Dolls" at the Vienna Community Center Auditorium on Saturday, July 18, at 7 p.m.
Tickets are $18.
The Town of Vienna's Parks and Recreation department is producing the show, which runs six performances through Sunday, July 26. Evening curtains rise at 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 18; Thursday, July 23; Friday, July 24; and Saturday, July 25. Sunday matinees on July 19 and July 26 begin at 2 p.m. Each show lasts about two and a half hours, according to the town's event listing.
The musical is set in New York City and follows lovable gamblers and determined missionaries making big bets on love and luck. The score includes Broadway standards "Luck Be a Lady" and "Sit Down, You're Rockin' the Boat."
Vienna Youth Players is sponsored by the Town of Vienna and staffed by theater professionals who work with a student cast and crew each summer. The program draws young performers from across the Vienna area.
The cast has already appeared in public. On June 27, the "Guys and Dolls" ensemble sang the national anthem at the Town of Vienna's Liberty Amendments Month Naturalization Ceremony at the community center, according to the town's events calendar.
