Vienna residents can get free health screenings Saturday, Oct. 17, at a health fair hosted by the Vienna Police Department and Northern Virginia Family Service (NVFS).
The event runs from 1 to 4 p.m. at Vienna SDA Church, 344 Courthouse Road. Admission is free.
Screenings will cover blood pressure, cholesterol and diabetes. Dental and behavioral health information will also be available, along with resources for women's and men's health and hepatitis and cancer awareness. Attendees can speak with local healthcare agencies, nonprofits and community representatives for medical guidance.
The Vienna Police Department announced the fair Saturday, Oct. 10, on X, encouraging residents to take advantage of free screenings, medical guidance and community resources through the partnership. The department had first flagged the event in an Oct. 5 post listing three upcoming community events for the month.
NVFS is a nonprofit headquartered in Falls Church that has served Northern Virginia for more than a century. The organization helps more than 40,000 people each year through programs spanning housing, healthcare, workforce development and early childhood education. It maintains a Vienna office at 8603 Westwood Center Drive, Suite 300, which houses its Training Futures workforce development center.
The nonprofit's community health programs include health insurance enrollment assistance, Medicaid application help and a Medication Assistance Program (MAP). The MAP serves Fairfax County and Prince William County residents, making it directly relevant to Vienna families who may need help covering prescription costs.
Residents with questions about the health fair can call (703) 938-8383.
The health fair is one of three Vienna Police community events in October. A Cops & Kids Fun Run follows Sunday, Oct. 18, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The DEA National Drug Takeback is Saturday, Oct. 24, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
