Vienna residents can pick up native flowering perennials, shrubs and small trees at the town's fall plant sale Saturday, Sept. 19, at the Vienna Community Center.

The Conservation and Sustainability Commission (CSC) sponsors the sale, which runs from 8 a.m. to noon at 120 Cherry St. SE, according to Tysons Today. All plants are raised and sold by Hill House Farm and Nursery, a Woodville, Virginia, grower that has propagated more than 500 native species on-site since 1998.

The sale includes a free drawing for a native tree.

The event overlaps with the Vienna Farmers Market, which is scheduled every Saturday through October in the Community Center parking lot, according to the Optimist Club of Greater Vienna. Shoppers can browse both without moving their car.

The commission, chaired by Patricia Esswein, holds the sale twice a year, in spring and fall, stocking plants native to the region. The spring sale took place May 2 at the same location, according to Plant NOVA Natives, a Northern Virginia native plant promotion group that also lists the Sept. 19 event.
