The Vienna Farmers Market closes out its 2026 season Saturday, Oct. 31, from 8 a.m. to noon at the Vienna Community Center, 120 Cherry St. SE.

The Town of Vienna flagged the final date in a post on X on Oct. 24, urging residents to mark their calendars.

The market operates every Saturday from May through October, according to the Optimist Club of Greater Vienna, the nonprofit that runs it. The club describes the market as a local producer-only operation featuring locally sourced fruits, vegetables and homemade foods. It is not a crafts market.

Volunteers staff every shift. The Optimist Club says its market is the only one in Fairfax County run by a nonprofit. All workers are unpaid, and operating expenses come from club member dues. Fees collected from vendors are a major fundraiser for the club, which uses the money to fund scholarships and support schools, charities and clubs in Vienna and Oakton.

Each week, the club arranges live musicians and runs its own sound system at the market. Optimist members also watch shoppers' dogs at a station called "Steve's Pooch Parking," named after volunteer Steve Coloney. State health regulations prohibit dogs other than service animals inside the market.

The market weathered a bumpy summer. The Town of Vienna announced on X in July that the market would close on Saturday, July 4, because of extreme heat in the forecast. It reopened the following Saturday.

Patch reported in September that the Vienna market would run through Oct. 31, listing the same hours and address.
