Vienna Mayor Linda Colbert will sit down with residents over coffee Wednesday, Sept. 2, at Nozzo Pazzo for her next "Meet the Mayor" session.

The free drop-in runs from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the deli at 122 Branch Road SE. No appointment is needed.

The Town of Vienna described the recurring series on its events page as informal office hours where residents can chat with Colbert about what's happening in town. The town announced the Sept. 2 session Saturday, Aug. 29, on X, describing it as another chance for residents to talk with Colbert about all things Vienna.

The session comes as the town prepares to launch a major townwide survey. At a July 6 work session, Town Council staff said the statistically valid, mailed survey would go out around Labor Day or mid-September, with results expected by year's end. The survey will ask residents whether buildings along Maple Avenue should be permitted at three full stories and, separately, whether four stories should be allowed to attract a greater diversity of development.

Building height along the corridor has drawn extended council debate. At a June 1 work session, council members discussed whether to include the four-story question at all, noting that prospective developers have cited the current height limit as a barrier to investment.

Colbert raised the town's meals tax rate at a May 11 work session, according to council records. She expressed interest in returning the rate from 4% to 3%, saying the original increase was meant to fund an aquatics and fitness facility. At the same session, she announced that 444 Maple Avenue had submitted its building permit application with the town and Fairfax County.

Colbert, a homegrown Vienna resident who has served on Town Council since 2014, was elected mayor in 2020. The previous Meet the Mayor session was held June 5 at The Virginian on Glyndon Street SE.

The next session after Wednesday is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 2, at 9:30 a.m. at Nozzo Pazzo.
