Aroma Express, the Colombian café at 416 Maple Ave E, has applied for a Virginia beer and wine license.

The application, filed with the Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) Authority, seeks a Restaurant Limited beer and wine license for on- and off-premises sales, according to a legal notice published Friday, Aug. 28. If approved, the café could sell beer and wine for on- and off-premises consumption.

German J Noriega Garcia, managing member, authorized the application. He and Liliana Munoz Orozco are listed as the café's owners.

Aroma Express opened at the Maple Avenue East address by early August, serving espresso drinks alongside Colombian staples such as arepas, empanadas, ajiaco and milhojas, Patch reported. The brand also operates locations in Washington, D.C., Springfield and Woodbridge.

Residents who want to weigh in on the license have 30 days from the publication of the first of two required legal notices. Objections can be filed at abc.virginia.gov or by calling 800-552-3200.

The ABC Authority says retail license applications take an average of up to 60 days to process.
