Vienna Police Chief Dan Janickey and Deputy Chief David Huchler led a Halloween fun run through town Sunday, Oct. 18, dressed as Woody and Buzz Lightyear.

The two top officers swapped their uniforms for full Toy Story costumes to lead the 2026 Cops & Kids Fun Run, the Vienna Police Department's annual community event. The Town of Vienna posted photos on X showing Janickey and Huchler in character alongside young runners decked out in their own Halloween getups.

"We think the kids have gotten plenty of mileage out of their Halloween costumes this weekend, thanks to the Cops and Kids Fun Run," the town wrote.

The free event ran from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and featured a one-mile walk/run, an obstacle course, a slide, face painting, food and drinks, police cruiser tours and music, according to the event website. Even families who had not registered for the run were welcome to attend for the food, activities and medals.

Registration had closed before the event, with a waitlist set up for additional spots.

The Cops & Kids Fun Run dates to the early 1990s, according to the Vienna Police Department. It went on hiatus for more than a decade before then-Chief Morris assembled a team to revive it in 2016. The department runs the event each year with support from local sponsors including Ace Hardware, Mission BBQ, Vienna Inn and the Vienna Rotary Club.
