Oakton's summer swim team scored 246 points and placed eighth out of 67 teams at the Northern Virginia Swimming League All-Star Carnival on Tuesday, July 15, at Sleepy Hollow Bath & Racquet Club.
Division 1 rival Chesterbrook won the meet with 776 points, finishing 258 ahead of second-place Tuckahoe and completing an undefeated 5-0 dual-meet season. The Tiger Sharks' victories included a regular-season win over Oakton.
The All-Star Carnival title, combined with a Relay Carnival win on Wednesday, July 8, and the dual-meet championship, gave Chesterbrook the NVSL Triple Crown for the first time since 2022.
Nearly 1,000 swimmers from across the 102-team, 17-division league competed at the All-Star Carnival. Oakton also posted 112 points at the July 8 Relay Carnival, tying for fifth with Old Keene Mill.
Chesterbrook head coach Riley Pfadenhauer, in his third year leading the program, told the Fairfax County Times on Thursday, July 24, that the undefeated run reflected his swimmers' effort.
"I don't know of any summer team where the kids work as hard in practice as they do at Chesterbrook, and they do an unbelievable job supporting each other," Pfadenhauer said.
Chesterbrook swimmer Ellie Hook, 13, set the NVSL league record in the 13-14 Girls 50m Backstroke with a time of 28.64 seconds. The Tiger Sharks also broke the league record in the mixed-age girls relay during the season.
NVSL Divisionals were scheduled for Saturday, July 25, at Tuckahoe. The individual All-Stars meet is set for Saturday, August 1, at Vienna Woods.
